🌹 Rene Rosso 🌹 in Chicago

Rene Rosso went all out producing her new floral themed revue at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Creative Director, Rebecca Budd was brought in from Vancouver to design a big screen backdrop for the catwalk, and to narrate the event.

“Good Evening Dahlings! I’m thrilled to be here in Chicago with you, and the Art Gowns Models. It’s going to be a spectacular event, filled with Torch Songs, Floral Art Gowns, flowers and sites of Chicago.”

“Take it away, Rebecca!”

Hello, hello! What a wonderful journey we are on! Before we begin, I’d like to send out a special Thank You to the Coop’s Floral Design Chicklets. They’ve done a brilliant job designing and attending to the Floral Art Gowns.

Let’s have big hand for 2 of the Chicklets; Rose and Sunflower! We begin tonight’s fashion show with the one and only Rene Rosso in a roses gown, designed by Rose.

I’d like to mention here, that all of the Art Gowns Models have picked their own special flower. Here comes the dynamic Dale -from A Dalectable Life in a sunflower gown, designed by Sunflower!

…And here’s Gigi from Rethinking Life, blowing our minds, in a full blown orange poppy gown!

Chicklet Poppy had her wings full, designing this heavily crinolined masterpiece! Let’s give it up for Poppy!

Marina from Art Towards a Happy Day, is now gracing the stage in her Daffodil gown.

Chicklet Daffodil’o’Lily has been more than busy working both on Marina’s daffodil gown and Shey’s black calla lily extravagownza. So, let’s hear it for Daffodil’o’Lily!

Shehanne Moore -Smexy Historical Romance always cuts a very dramatic figure, but in a black calla lily gown, she’s drop dead gorgeous!

Finally, here’s Holly from House of Heart, in an absolutely enchanting wild flowers gown!

Chicklet Wildflower has decorated Holly’s gown with real wild flowers. What a spectacular achievement, so give it up!

The Art Gowns Models look stunning sashaying down the cat walk in front of the big screen presentation, featuring flower photos from Timothy Price’s archives and sights of Chicago from Gigi’s collection.

We will now have a short intermission, while Rene Rosso changes gowns. Feel free to enjoy any of the refreshments!

Aaand here’s Rene Rosso to sing her rendition of Joss Stone’s Right to be Wrong!

✨ It was a very successful night. ✨

Rene Rosso was still in her dressing room. The Art Gowns Models left the conservatory, chirping like busy song birds. Rebecca Budd was just behind the models, but still inside the doors. Suddenly Rebecca froze to her spot in horror. A small tornado sucked up the Art Gowns Models, and took them away!

Oh no! The Art Gown Models vacuumed up by a tumultuous tornado! It’s like a Blizzard of Oz got them. And just think, they were not even in Kansas.

Your drawings of the Art Gown models are fabulous, and the story is so much fun. Now we left sucked up in suspense over the fate of the Art Gown Models.

That is a super-fab One-Eye. Thanks for the shout out and adding the photos of the guitars.

    1. LOL – Blizzard of OZ!
I adore the Art Gowns Models! All the gals are so inspiring.
Yes, their fate… Okay I’ve got a lot more drawing to do! Even they don’t know their fate.
Of course RR & PBH are writing this with me, and the saga will continue.

Yay! Happy you like the One-Eye. Tim, thank for all you contribute to these stories, and it is my pleasure to do the shout out!

  2. My goodness… is there anything… any good – beautiful – amazing thing not included in here? Huge huge WOW… bewowed and bewildered and speechless! I guess it’s the tornado cause I’m literally blown away! Congratulations to everyone and I mean everyone and a huge [to the moon] hug to Resa [yep, you!]! xoxoxoxoxo

    1. Dear Marina,
      Thank you so much!
I adore you, and thank you for being one of the Art Gowns Models!
Lol, yes, I suppose the tornado has blown you away. Lol!
Big hugs to you, Hera and that interesting guy with all the fab music!
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      1. Awwwwww likewise!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
I can’t tell you how proud I am to be wearing such an extraordinary Art Gown! You have magical hands!!!
Paws and hugs from ALL of us!!!!!
        🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾

    2. Dear Marina, I am in absolute shock by the suddenness of the small tornado. I was there just behind the models, but still inside the doors. I froze and felt my throat constrict so that I could never even utter a sound. There is more to this story – I can hardly wait for the next post. P.S. You looked elegant in your Daffodil gown.

    1. I am with you on this, Dale. I am in shock, even hours after the tornado picked up the Art Gowns Models!!!. Yikes!!!! By the way, you are stunning in the sunflower gown, designed by Sunflower.

  3. Oh no! I hope the art gown models are OK. And will their gowns survive? Perhaps the flower seeds will drop and scatter from the tornado, and art gowns will flower across the continent.

Another fabulous adventure with beautiful drawings. A lovely collaboration.

  4. Oh NO!!! Spinning, spinning in a tornado.. I guess in the black calla lily gown with these other gorgeous galz it could be worse. Maybe we will even find some champagne to sip…. May I say Rebecca in profile looks amazingly iconic. And what a job she does of the narration. Amazing gowns. YOU have surpassed yourself my darling AND I love me that calla lily xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Yay!!
So happy you’re here, dear Shey.
Darn, I should have thought of champagne.
I’ll work it into another episode!
Yes,I am very happy with how Rebecca came out! I’d like to draw her in palazzo pants!.
      My calla lily lily! xooxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

    2. I’m in a dreadful state, Shehanne. I saw the tornado take you away and could only watch in horror as the event unfolded. By the way, you look absolutely smexy in that black calla lily gown. And yes, Resa has outdone herself with my profile. Don’t I look gorgeous and the glasses are beyond amazing. The earrings come directly from Tiffanys – Resa has excellent fashion sense. It was a brilliant Big Screen Presentation, a night to remember in the years to come.

  5. wow! How smashingly fabulous!!!!! I love it. Resa, what an amazing job. It’s wonderful and LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU so much for including me. It’s so incredible. YAYAYAYAYAYAYA! I hope the models are okay…. Have to wait for 2nd chapter.<3 ❤

    1. Well, the models will need to be rescued… It’s a bit crazy what has happened to them.
So happy you like this, Gi!
Thank you for all the effort you have put into making this a fabulous visual story!
I’ve already started drawing chapter 2! xo

    1. Thank you, thank you!
      🎀 I’ll take 2 bows! 🎀
Mark, it’s so much fun doing these drawings and making up these stories.
Thank you so much for attending the show, and yes, the Art Gowns Models put on the best fashion shows. IMHO! 😊😊😊😊

  8. Dahling, it’s great to be in Chicago, that toddlin’ town. Once again you’ve decked your models out in the most gorgeous gowns dear One Eye! We have a right to be wrong but we never are … just look at us all decked out in flowers of all kinds. Rebecca has done a fabulous job too, and the Chicklets, well, the models could not be more beautiful! Timothy has made the scene with his fabulous photos. Those guitars are AWESOME One Eye! If I forgot anyone it’s the champagne , you know how it is after a night singing torch songs. Love you dahling, forever and ever!
RR…aka Holly. Heavens, we’ve been swept up in a wind tunnel…I will speak to my manager about this… HELP! xoxoxoxoxo

    1. Lol!….
      Love ya!
Well RR is in her dressing room. Poor Art Gowns Model Holly and the rest are in the wind funnel.
Looks like RR will have to put on her PBH working clothes, and go rescue the Art Gowns Models.
Of course, I drew a new outfit for PBH.
Wonder who the bad guy is?
You are so sweet to thank everyone. These stories really are a group effort in many ways.
Hmm, Like Merril asked, “will their gowns survive”?
Now I’m thinking; I’m not good at drawing underwear.
Well, we will just have to see what happens.
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

(strange voice) Your Manager can’t help you here! Mwahhhhh

      (Resa) Hey? Who was that?

      1. Lolol! Better get started on those knickers ! It’s pretty rough in the wind funnel And for so long!! RR needs to hurry with the metamorphosis ! I’m sure One Eye will work it out. She just happens to be RR’s manager. 😊❤️

            1. On it…. but they eye’nt been rescues yet!
              ❦👯‍♀️🍾🍾❦👯‍♀️🍾🍾❦👯‍♀️🍾🍾❦👯‍♀️🍾🍾❦👯‍♀️🍾🍾

              1. … maybe the other…
Just working on a fun idea…. so every story isn’t like a formula.
Will mail in a day or 2! ❤️🍾🥂🥰❤️🍾🥂🥰

    2. Holly – you have a wonderful way of describing this amazing post. I agree – it is good to be in Chicago again. The last time I was there was in a huge blizzard that closed down the airport! There is always something exciting happening in Chicago. Resa is truly remarkable. She creates an environment that welcomes us all. Her creative spirit reminds us that we can live boldly, with hope and courage because we are a community that supports and sustains each other. By the way, are the epitome of elegance in the enchanting wild flowers gown.

      1. You’re just fabulous dear Rebecca! It’s so fantastic to see you here and all the fabulous things you do , I’m so delighted! Resa shines her light on us all , she dresses us in flowers and takes us to the best places in the world. She’s a gorgeous fabulous gifted lady and so are you! She fills my life at WP with smiles and laugh out louds like no one else. Thank you dear lovely lady, you are a joy. ❤️

        1. Resa is wonderful! She introduced me to you and your gift of poetry. By the way, I’m still planning to recite your poetry and will be in contact. I am fascinated by your ability to easily transition from one subject to the next and how you connect with other poets and music. Love visiting your place – it is where the music of words dwell.

            1. Rebecca’s voice is fabulous! I can’t think of any female voice I like better for reciting…. ex Jeremy Irons is the best male voice for reciting!!!! LOL

              1. Jeremy… What and adorable scoundrel!
Worked with him, and got to dress him as F. Scott Fitzgerald!
                Sissy Spacek played Zelda!
I spent a lot of quality time with him… as a designer and her actor…. as an actor and his designer!
Did you ever see this promo video I made on the movie? https://vimeo.com/27056745

              2. Eeeee!! That’s fabulous. I hadn’t seen that before. I wanted to share that but media won’t Allow Vimeo. You are just full of delightful surprises. Jeremy, be still my heart. ❤️

              3. Can’t share? Huh? I use Vimeo in some of my posts. Rebecca uses Vimeo almost every post on Lady Budd.
Maybe you have to embed the link in a post?
                Anyway.. doesn’t matter!
I know …Jeremy, right! Eeeee! Ohhh, he was so fun. He owns a castle in Ireland. He threw a party that was … like so outtasight!
                xoxoxoxo
A chips and wine chat GF! ❤

              4. I want to go to Ireland and meet Jeremy. I can be your assistant. oh that’s right I have to stay inside my borders. Isn’t it ironic. Trump!!!! Drink that wine 🍷 I’m all ears.

              5. You got the chips? 👂🏽👂🏽
Music tonight. All my faves are playing.
Rock music,Sasha on drums, Paul – rhythm & vocals, Norm lead guitar and keyboards, JK on bass.
Covid is on the rise here. It’s because stage 3 opened, restaurants & bars breaking protocol, & the hidden parties.
They are talking about going back to stage 2.
The fines have gotten bigger, and they are hiring more officials to inspect and fine.
At least the guys have tons of room to distance, they wear their masks unless snacking or drinking, and they have shorter sessions now…only a couple of hours.
                Sigh!

  9. Dearest Resa, you have captured my personality within my profile. I love the glasses – I used to wear that style and I think that I may just go back to cat’s eye look. Thank you for this amazing post and for including me in your storyline. I always wanted to produce a Big Screen Presentation. And you gave me the chance of a lifetime. I’m still in shock at the ending. Seeing the tornado taking away all those lovely Art Gowns Models. I could only look on in horror. You were still in the dressing room so thankfully you are still safe and sound on the ground. And the chicklets – are there okay? The plot thickens. Where is Timothy? Perhaps he knows what to do. Looking forward to the next chapter. You really know how to handle cliffhangers, Resa! Sending much love and hugs along with my gratitude!

    1. Rebecca, thank you for this fab comment!

I’m so pleased with your profile!
I’ve started a couple of other drawings, and know one day a palazzo pants outfit will happen!
Cat’s eye shape seemed a natural for you.
Well, actually RR = Rene Rosso, so she’s still in the dressing room. In a sense then, I am in the dressing room too, as I draw the gowns.
Rene Rosso & Princess Blue Holly are both modelled by Holly. (as is Art Gowns model Holly, and another character we made up, Boogapony Holly, who hosted the tribute to Hendrix).
It all started with the Princess Blue Holly character about 3 summers ago, when I went to a comic book thing and found some wall art with Poison Ivy character.
That’s when Holly and I came up with super hero Princess Blue Holly (PBH). She is named after an actual plant that has spikes on its leaves & poison berries. Those became her weapons. Blue Princess Holly is the plant she is named after. There is also a male version – Blue Prince Holly).
Of course super heroes need alter egos to function in real life. So, we came up with Rene Rosso, Torch Song singer.
One thing lead to another, and eventually RR started taking the Art Gowns Models on tours with her.
The shows have grown over time, which is why RR decided she need a creative director.
      Welcome to the team!
Whenever there is a fashion show, usually the first episode of each story, you will be creative director, if that’s okay with you.
However, not to fall too much into a formula, I am developing more story line ideas!

The Chicklets are fine, the gowns….I don’t know!
Timothy has provided us with magic trees! The Tangle-Heart tree will be in the next episode. It’s a must be, as the Tangle- Heart is PBH & RR’s inner guide and beacon to where the Art Gowns Models are.

I might be having too much fun! Oh Well!
      {{{HUGS}}}

PS – Charlotte Hoather came up with the term “Gowntoons”. I quite like it!

      1. This is a story that has a story and another story. Oh, Resa – you have a brilliant creative spirit that shines light into dark corners. So glad to be a part of this extraordinary community. I like “Gowntoons” too!

    1. Brenda!

      I had TONS of fun.
I’ve already begun to draw the next episode!
Lol… flutter away, after all you are in the fairy business!
I’ve been thinking of you, and will be by soon, to visit!
Take care, hope your family is well!

    1. Yes, Rene Rosso and the Art Gowns Models were very excited to travel to Chicago.
So glad that some of the feeling rubbed off on you.
The Chicklets are fantastically cute, and usually help out with the fashion shows.
Thank you for your lovely comment!

  10. Hyperion

I just love how you bring together so much talent, each an artistic genius, and make another exciting adventure. I never leave without a smile and anticipation of the next installment. Who would possibly want to twist our delightful art gown models up in a tornado? I shall wait with fingernails properly chewed to nubs.

    1. IKR! Who sucked up the Art Gowns Models?
Well, next episode will see Princess Blue Holly to the rescue.
At some point in episode 2 or 3, she will call on her inner dragon. Hope Hyperion is ready!

          1. Hyperion

Hmmm…Hype and the dragons might need to hit the gym or our only defense is a dragon belly flop on top of the bad guys. It works really well in the pool.

  11. Absolutely one of your best posts so far. I loved the flower art gown theme. And you story was so much fun. I can tell you are a passionate creative artist. And Tim’s Chicago intermission was outstanding. Can’t wait for Episode 2. Have a happy week, Resa. 📚 Christine

    1. Thank you so much, Christine!
It’s a lot of fun doing these stories. It’s so great to have so many pals chip in their creativity as well.
Happy rest of week & weekend!
      I’ll be drawing tonight!

  12. Resa, you’ve outdone yourself! What a fun whimsical adventure. Although I’m worried about that tornado. 😉 It’s lovely that you have Rebecca here too. You’re both the cat’s pajamas! Sharing this far and wide. Hugs.

  13. Fantastic and fun describes this entire post, Resa, except for the tornado!!! I sure hope the girls are okay. The colors, designs, narrative, and everything else sprinkled in is absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait for Episode 2! Love, Love, Love! 🥰🥰🥰🌻🌻🌻💗💗💗🎉🎉🎉

  14. Brava brava brava!!! Wow, what a super amazing masterpiece dear Resa and friends!! 💖💖💖
From the super cute and charming designer chicklets (love how one is hiding behind the sunflowers, so adorable!) to the incredible flower-inspired dresses and those gorgeous flower photos and pictures of Chicago, this was a soul-recharging journey into joy and playfulness. Aw love your art dear Resa!! You are a stunning creatrix. Muchas gracias:)) Sending much love, admiration, and warm hugs across the ocean to ya 💖💖💖

    1. The Chicklets are so very cute, and I can’t thank Gigi enough for drawing them for this adventure.
Soul – recharging is a massive compliment.
Drawing the Art Gowns Models in themes is a lot of fun, as is creating these tales.
I’m very happy you came for a visit, and got to read part 1 of this new adventure.
Take care, stay safe and sending hugs back to you!
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
