Gown-In & Love-Up

Dahlings, we are loving it up in Miami, Tim’s Magic Tree Sanctuary and around the world. I’m one radiating Ms. R., reporting from Ocean Drive, as I present Art Gowns for peace and love.

It’s an all out love fest, with special guest star Boogapony Holly, who will pony on down in roller skates. It’s a go-go like you’ve never seen! And now, from her special stage of TMTS* black bamboo, let’s all get down with MC, Art Director and palazzo pantonista , Rebecca Budd!

Thank you Rene!

As beautiful as the bougainvillea she poses by, AGM Marina wears a strapless, fishtail gown made from a pink-tone ecru velvet & recycled Ribbons for Peace.

Boogapony relays her message of love ,with movement, as she glides through the bougainvilleas.

Let’s hear it for Boogapony!

That was fantastic and so is Gigi. AGM Gigi tied on BP’s extra pair of skates, tore a strip out of her strapless skin-tight turquoise gown and rolled on down to Wynwood Walls,

… where she models next to a tiger painted by Faith47 in 2014.

In a simple breath-pink slip-style gown with baby blue godets, AGM Holly showcases a breathtaking boa of roses designed by TMTS’s own Dr, Huey.

What’s a Love-Up without some fringe? AGM Dale shows in a red gown with heart shaped décolletage and asymmetric plunging v-bodice with fringe at its point. Watch out! With bougainvillea hearts, she’s going to “take you higher”!

Dahlings, there was a slight glitch trying to get AGM Shey over to Miami. DracGoth made yet another attempt to morph Shey into SheyGoth, and transport her to Otherworld.

While suspended in black between worlds, Tim's Roses of Love surrounded her. They gently guided her to Princess Blue Holly's Tangle-Heart. AGM Shey passed through the Heart in darkness, and surfaced by her golden tree in the light

Thank you Rene!

Wow, seems Shey’s tree sent her to Miami with some enchanted roses. As the roses change colour, so do the roses on her boho, sheer voile angel gown. This is Flower Power at its finest!

And now, from the Florida Room of her ocean view home: with the sand, ocean, sky and sea birds behind her and surrounded by one of Tim’s roses in many spellbound colours here’s RR with a parting message!

Dahlings, Sweet Dreams until Art Gowns & friends returns with another extravaganza! Until then, remember to Love-Up everyday, everywhere!

Here’s a FAB send-off featuring Boogapony skating a go-go through Ocean Drive! Check out those crazy high jumps

  1. RESA!!! First post that came up in my reader today has made my day. I LOVE it. All the models look fabulous. And I love the snippets and music. Thank YOU xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for saving and drawing me. I am shocked at the levels DracGoth has sunk to, trying to parade with us ladies. xxxxxxx

    1. Shey,

      Pleasure.

Lol, love drawing you(& all the AGMs) in gown creations.

DracGoth… he’s still on about the same thing. No new material…same old wanna be your boyfriend. He could get a Las Vegas run with his same old song of love.

Holly picks the best music. It really creates more of a uniqueness having a different mind select the music.

      Take care Shey! xoxoxoxxxxxxx

  2. What a perfect Love-In of drawings, art gowns, and adventures. Great gowns–hugs and kisses (it being a love fest) to you and all the models! ❤️

You should repost the September song next month. 😊

    1. Thank you Merril!

Yeah, I needed a love and peace fest. Peace especially seems so far away in this world.

YA! hugs and kisses 💓 to you!

September is a great song. Can you believe it’s only 7 days away? I think I will post it next month on my art blog. Street artists don’t usually paint rustic autumnal scenes, but I’m sure I’ll find something to go with it. 😅

      1. I was teaching and we took a break for summer starting up soon. I have been learning to weld my truck pieces on and get rid of 30-year-old rust. I cannot wait to grind, sand paint then maybe I will attempt pinstriping what’s the worst that can happen 🙂

    1. Thank you, TOF!

Crazy, but all I seem to want to do is be creative. Darn housework and general survival keep getting in the way.

I’m so grateful to have this first world, 21st century problem. ❦

    1. Thank you Dave!

I get a lot of joy doing these posts, so I’m happy to know it spreads.

Hey, I knew something was wrong when I saw you liked the post, but there was no comment.

Of course no one has to comment all the time, but when someone usually does and then there is no comment – time to check the SPAM!

There you were, languishing in a tinned processed meat product. You are free, now! 😂

I really hate Spam. I got caught in a Spam hellhole several years back. Couldn’t comment anywhere. Took months for WP & Jetpack to free me. It all started with 1 blogger’s Spam folder that I wasn’t freed from.

Checking Spam folders regularly is a good blogging habit. 😊

      1. Yikes! Spam Hell. 😦 I also check my Spam folder regularly; some perfectly legit comments can indeed get stuck there. Sorry about your awful Spam experience several years ago. 😦

“…languishing in a tinned processed meat product” — LOL! So funnily said. 😂

      1. The cat is still wandering in the house or besides me on the 2nd computer chair…:) took time this morning to come backl, love your illustrations Resa, your are a really multi talented artist, love those. xx

    1. Aww, Thank you Frank!

I was surprised that it has been 3 months since I posted on Art Gowns.

Then again, I’m beaver busy and it does take time to do drawings and make gowns.

Love the music! Holly picks all the songs for the Gowntoons posts.

      Clink!

  3. Meece!

I’m overwhelmed with the wonder of your Flower Power Love-In. So perfectly timely when we all need the uplifting vision of beautiful flowing gowns, of roses 🌹 and bougainvillea as the AGM’s rock Ocean Drive with fashion and song. 🎶. It’s all so magical and wonderful it’s definitely lifted me higher and we do need that. All we need is love 💕 and you bring it like no one else ! Fabulous works of art and so much fun. Are you sure that was DracGoth once again trying to steal our sweet Shey? There are other bad actors in Florida but when we love we win.
Absolutely adore Boogapony and Gi on their skates , those are some very cool wheels and they know how to paint the town in roses and love.
Thank darling Resa, sending a world of love !

    Adore! xoxoxoxoxo

    1. Meece!

Thank you x millions for doing these Gowntoon posts with me.

      Peace… is a desirable & valuable commodity. What better than Loving-it-up at a Gown-In?

Lol, DracGoth doesn’t quit. Like I was saying to Shey, same old song. He’s sung his SheyGoth song so many times, he should get a run in Vegas.

      “DracGoth” has left the building!

It’s such a joy doing these drawings. The first one I did for his post was AGM Holly in the roses boa. It was wonderful, peaceful to concentrate on all those roses. Art does bring a modicum of peace.

It only does follow suit here that I move on to drawing Janis. Now that these are done, it is my drawing project.

You picked a great poem and songs, and I’m going to use “September” in September, on Glam.

Dearest Holly, sending a world of love back to you!

      xoxoxoxoxoxo

      1. I’m so looking forward to “Janis”.
The epitome , along with Hendrix, of the peace and love generation. Whenever I think of Boas I always think of this crazy cute out of this world rocker with the “boa” in her hair. It’s gonna be fun when you bring her to us again.
        Have the greatest Sunday gf!

        xoxoxoxoxo

        1. Me too! Janis will be another cool challenge to draw. Also, as I have gotten a bit better, I want to do the pencil with some added colour…B&W&Colour.

          gf Sunday! xxoxoxxoxo

          1. You’ve become a top notch artist and you are up to any challenge! No pressure . … lol!
I have complete confidence in your many creative gifts.
There’s time and you are busy as a bee 🐝.
I’m so impressed with this post of love and peace and joy… le sniff! Amazing job on this dear Meece❤️

    1. Thank you Beth!

The world could use a bit more love and a lot more peace!

I’m too old to join the Peace Corps 😅, but I can do Art for Peace.

      Make Art not War!

    1. Thank you dear Tim!

Your trees are inspiring, as are the roses, and bamboo and moons and clouds.

I just love AGM Holly’s boa made out of Dr. Huey roses. (Hope I got the roses right. Anyway they are all from your blog and pics)

I actually started with Dr. Huey roses. Then over the 3 months it took to draw all the gowns, I wound up with Boogapony skating in Miami.

Thank you for letting me use your wonderful photos! It means a lot.

      Resa xo

      1. Timothy Price's avatar Timothy Price

You make such good use of the trees and roses. I’m happy to see the exquisite results. You are so creative and talented.

        1. Thank you dear, Tim! xoxo
It really is inspiring to have your pics to work with.
I even made a stage for Rebecca out of her bamboo.

Anyway, I finished all the Emmy stuff (since streaming it’s like a job, the volume is insane.) So, hopefully I can focus on the new Art Gown. I’ll send you a progress pic soon.
I’m also going to try drawing Janis! xo

    1. Thank you so much, Debby!

I can really “get away” when I draw, or do other creative things.

I wonder…Is it the same when you write? Do you go somewhere else?

Anyway, glad you came here! xx❦🌟🌹💓oo

      1. I’m always glad I came here! You are an amazing talent. And yes, when I’m lost in writing, I will quite often forget to eat a meal – maybe two. Lol 🙂 ❤

        1. Thank you, Debby!
It’s a wonderful thing that you get lost in your writing. Our creative time is a joy and a wonderful thing to look forward to in life.
          ❦🌟🌹💓

    1. Thunder,
The shebang, ⚡️💥, yes, it’s definitely about shebanging.
An agglomeration of gowns, from recycled and textile trash, has got to be a pageantry.
      xoxoxoxo
Now, I’m trying to draw Janis.

        1. You too,Thunder!
I can hardly wait to see Janis, too! Lol!
I’m thinking B&W, like I’ve been doing, but a pink boa, and coloured beads… or so.

          xoxoxo

  4. You outdid yourself, which is really saying something. I LOVE every single bit of this fabulous post. It’s truly beautiful, and meaningful. Thank your for aways including me and making me gorgeous…and with a TIGER. OMG, so exciting. Peace and Love to you always, from one of your Art Gown models. ❤️❤️❤️ You make everything better.

    1. Thank you Gi!
I do try in my little way to make things better. Don’t always succeed, but I try.
I know, I love that tiger!
      ❦🌟🌹💓
      Did Daisy have her kittens?

      1. No kittens yet. Just wrote to you on the other post. This post was so much fun and I love our gowns and all the artwork. You put so much time and effort into it. I listened to the music, looked at everything and think it’s all amazing. ❤️

  5. So much fun. I love the roller skates on the glamorous MGMs and the shifting colors on Shey’s gown. Magical through and through, Resa. A Love-up is perfect for the last days or summer (or last days of winter, as the case may be). Time to dig out my old roller skates and try not to break a hip! Lol Hugs.

    1. Thanks Robbie!

It took since June to draw the gowns, but it has been a beaver busy summer.

I loved roller skates when I was a girl, too!

The changing roses were easy. In my Photos Editing on my laptop (Mac) there is this setting.

So, I take the 1 drawing and keep making colour variations. How many variations one can end up with depends on the colours one starts with.

Then I took the variations and made a GIF in Keynote (Mac’s PowerPoint).

      Hugs!!

  6. Resa, your exceptional talent as a designer and storyteller truly shines through in every creation. Your stunningly innovative gowns not only captivate the eye but also inspire us to embrace life and love fully each day. Meanwhile, Tim’s enchanting presence reassures us, providing a sense of safety and warmth amidst the challenges we face. Together, you both create a magical world that uplifts our spirits. I am truly honored to be a part of this incredible “Grown In and Love Up” extravaganza. The atmosphere is electric, filled with creativity and passion. The models are not only stunning in appearance but also radiate beauty from within, showcasing their unique personalities and confidence. It’s inspiring to witness such talent and diversity come together in celebration.

    1. EGADS!

Your comment is a masterpiece, Rebecca.

      Then again, they usually are.

If palazzo pants ever make a comeback, it will be because of you.

I tried to make the pants look like a hippy skirt here, with tiered legs. You know, I think I had some pants like those in the late 70’s. Tiered skirts were all the rage for so long, I started calling them “tired” skirts. Now, I love them again. (Disco, punk and big shoulders aside, they hung in until into the early 80’s. A tiered skirt with a big shoulder blazer was part of the “transition” look)

I adore you and all the gals who let me draw them.

I’m not good at drawing men, but if I could I would definitely draw Tim. …in a gown…??? 😂

      I digress.

      Thank you, Rebecca! Big Hugs!

      1. Love that idea! All is well as can be. My whiner indicator is barely off zero. It might be out of adjustment. I’ll put in a trouble ticket to make sure life is as good as I think it is. 😁

    1. Thanks Janet.
      🤗
Hmm, would a Roller Gown competition in beauty pageants, bring back the gown segment?
      I’d be down with that.
IF you have a beauty pageant, why are the gowns eliminated? Okay swimsuits… I get it, sexist. But gowns?
What replaced the gowns? Track suits?

      LOL… got off track there didn’t I!
      Have a fab week!

    1. You are right, Aladin!
      All the gals are fab.
Holly and I started this with 3 characters almost 5 years ago. Time flies.

We still work together on all the “Gowntoon” posts! She is special. 🥰🤗💖🌹❦🌟

        1. I went to Chasing Art, but don’t see a comment with a link. Maybe she has yet to approve the comment.
Who is the artist? I wonder if I saw some artwork of hers?
          ❦🌟🌹🎨

            1. YES!
There are pics of a painting by Lavina Fontana in my collection. It’s her portrait of Costanza Alidosi. It’s a wonderful painting, and I did get to see it close up.
There was no glass covering it, so the viewing was special, and no reflection on the shots.
              Thank you, Aladin!
              .🤗🌹🎨xx

  7. Yay — Best fashion show ever! What’s not to love? Sketches, roller skates, Miami Beach, roses, fringe, and gowns, gowns, GOWNS! I love the idea of a boa of roses. Thanks for this delightful, whimsical, beauty-filled break, Resa. Hugs on the wing. ❤

    1. Thank you Teagan!
I know… I’m gown mad, especially since I discovered I could make them out of textile trash and other cast offs.
      Hugs back! ❦

  8. Woo hoo!! Glad to see an update to your Gowns blog, been long overdue since May, Resa, but wow, what a post! LOVE, LOVE the gowns and the fun stories you wrote. Your sketches are amazing, love the turquoise dress and that boa of roses, but it’s always too hard to pick my fave art gown of yours!

I don’t listen to contemporary music much but I do love that Ed Sheeran song! Perfect, just like these gowns!

    1. Aww, Thank you, Ruth!
Yeah, the crazy thing is that it takes about 6 months (or longer) to make an actual Art Gown.
So, I thought I would draw gowns in between, so there wouldn’t be so much time between posts.
That worked for awhile, then I got all fussy about my drawings. Now those take longer.

Plus, I love my other blog.
I spend a lot of time walking the alleys looking for art.
Now, I’m also doing art history posts, and have been drawing portraits of rock stars and movie stars.
      Actually, I can $ell those.
Then, as you can see, I chit chat a lot with other bloggers.
When I saw the title of your blog Flix CHATTER – I was like…Oh Yeah!

      1. I’m just amazed you have so much energy and creativity to do drawings, take pictures of amazing art in the alleyways, watch shows for Emmy voting, AND chatting w/ other bloggers, you are a super woman, Resa!

I’m so grateful I came across your blog, it’s been so inspiring to see your beautiful art and chatting with you about shows/movies, etc. So excited for our collab that’ll be posted soon 😉

        1. Aww, thanks Ruth!

Kind of crazy, but I feel like I should/could do more.

The thing is, there is only so much time.

Guess I’ll just have to work with the time I have!

I’m very excited for the Emmy Post you are doing!

    1. Thank you, Trent!
I’ve been asking people – if they could live in 1 era, any era (decade) from their life, which would it be?
70’s is the #1 answer, so far.

          1. We are bombarded by a constant message of how bad it is today, but never in history have such a large part of the world population been fed and educated, never had so many had the luxuries we take for granted, never has life style been so good. anyway, I could go on, but, you know 😉

            1. I agree.
Perhaps internet, social media, 24 hour news sources, etc. amplifies everything.
Of course people need to be reminded to stop and smell the roses.
Don’t have to remind people to stop and rubberneck at at train wreck.

              1. It really started with the 24×7 news channels – they have to have something to talk about! Here is an example – crime. And people here of bad things happening far away, and think “it must be here as well.” In the US violent crimes rose from the 1960s through the early 1990s then dropped dramatically. By 2010 the numbers were about the same as they were in the 60s, but the per capita was back like the 1950s! And yet everyone said crime was at an all time high and we need to crack down more. The numbers have dropped a bit since then, but it has been a roller coaster, up and down, though still far below the numebrs from the 1970s, 1980s and early 90s, and yet, ask anyone and they will tell you crime has never been higher. The right wing blames the high crime on the long list of people they hate (foreign born people, people of color, gay and transgender, etc.), but there is no high crime so nobody to blame!
Crime is just one thing – life is so much better across the board than people are constantly being told.

              2. I hear you, and agree.

I’m always incredulated (not an acknowledged word) at how apparently decent statistics are perceived, even twisted.

                Then there’s the other side.
IE: Biden pointing out the stats that show a recovering economy, and other positive realities and indicators.
                Most don’t believe him.

It’s true on both sides of the coin. Things are bad, and yet, things are better.

I guess people believe what they want, and with so much info (good and ill) at their fingertips, they shop.

Also, imo, the planet is overcrowded.
Not only that, but with climate change, the crowds are all migrating to hopefully better places. This increases density.

Elbow room has turned into knuckle room.

              3. There are issues today. Global warming is the very top of the list. Population is too big, but a downturn is foreseen in the not too distant future (strict Capitalists see the downturn as the end of the world). Pollution is super bad around the world, and this is actually a third world thing since 90% of it is coming from up and coming countries, not already developed countries. Ultra-nationalism is close to an all time high around the world, though most countries have turned back from the brink this year (I hope the US does as well!), etc. I hope we as a society will push in the right direction on all of them.
But there were huge issues in the past as well that people usually miss looking with rose tinted glasses. Actually, it is a real psychological thing that people in general look at the past much better than they look at the present – they see only the warts today while they see only good in yesteryear. It has always been that way and the politicians etc. have really capitalized on it, saying “everything was better back then, and the only way the good times will return is if our party is 100% in power!”
Anyway, I like looking to the past, but I also like looking towards the future 🙂

  9. Pingback: September – Graffiti Lux Art & More

  10. Wow, Resa, what’s not to love about this post? This was so much fun and your designs are fantastic, as always! Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” is perfect 🙂 for this event, and “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire takes me back a few years! Wonderful event, beautiful models and gowns, and I love the roller skates, too!

    🩷🤗🛼🛼

    1. Thank you dear Lauren!

It was a lot of fun drawing these gowns. I need to draw, so might as well make use of the drawings. Besides, the actual Art Gowns take at least 6 months to make, and I need something to fill in. The new one is at least a month away.

Miami is the perfect place for a modern day love-in. Also, Holly does these posts with me, and she lives in Miami. She suggested the skating.

Attempting to draw Janis Joplin right now.

Thank you so much for popping by and checking out the post!

      xo❦🌹🌟💃🏽xo

        1. Yeah! Lol!

The gown is being made from antique linens and lace that Diana (Myths of the Mirror) inherited. They were collected by her great grandmother.

I’m honoured that she gifted them to me. 🌹🌟💜xxoo
