Welcome dahlings! Inspired by Vikings, northern lights and all things “land of the midnight sun”, Art Gowns presents a twist of creation, “TheVi-Queens”.
Here to host our Vi-Queen telecast, her mic custom made to look like an ax, is Art Gowns own glorious Art Director, Rebecca Budd. Take it away RB!
Thank you RR! I’m lovin’ my new maxrophone. It’s made to talk your head off! Each AGM Vi-Queen will model her gown in a regal gold picture frame made out of all recycled materials.
First into the frame is Gigi. A red velvet gown, gold lame cape and black with silver metallic faux fur keeps her warm during days of all night.
Marina is the god’s musical muse in a blueberry dyed gossamer cotton gown. Her head piece features a hammered gold diamond with an olive tree decoration.
40 layers of tulle help Holly float into the frame. Wide strips of blue NOS ultrasuede tapered at the waist lets lacing shape the overskirt. Trumpet sleeves and a macrame choker are held in place by vintage gold buttons.
Posing in her second costume change of the evening, RR graces a claret velvet gown with hammered gold breast cups, arm bands and belt buckle. Detached trumpet sleeves complete the ancient look.
Shey, still in Goth recovery from losing her beloved to a puppethood prisonership, poses in a pale moss green silk bias cut gown. A gold coin hip belt, gold arm band, headband with gold medallion, asymmetric gloves and gold tipped spear perfect this powerful Vi-Queen.
Dale’s faux feather boa will keep her warm when night is nigh. Her fishtail gown’s metallic bustier is of repurposed lurex, and the fishtail’s feathers are from the same fabric scraps as the boa.
RR’s final outfit of the evening is another fishtail gown: skin tight with lace-up corset style bodice & lurex inserts.
🌺 Her floral shawl, a gift from Princess Blue Holly, has a one time unknown magic feature! 🌹
Rupert wielding 2 steak knives, Drac with blood red talons of steel & Etagloc smoking a massive nicotine spewing cigar with a fire ball heater advance threateningly.
Without hesitation, RR whips open her enchanted shawl. The floral print turns into a hundred thousand real flowers of all sizes, sundering the golden frame apart.
The mystical flowers bury Belezza, her evil puppets and the entire film crew in a floral potpourri.
The AGM V-Qs & RB are encased in midnight sun protective spheres created by the shadows of petals.
RR looks into her Tangle-Heart, and watches Belezza & the puppets retreat into Otherworld. The AGMs remain trapped in protective spheres and the crew has evacuated the studio.

You are the lady of ‘art’ in all its glory. Wonderful. Regards, TOF
Thank you, TOF! Art is glorious.
So impressive, Resa! Love the images, the gown designs, and the word “Vi-Queens”! Plus the mention of familiar people in the blog world. 🙂
Thanks Dave!
Vi-Queens is a cool word. Once it popped into mind, it just hung there.
Most of the women I mention became Art Gowns Models out of chance. I needed reference points to create different faces and personalities, hence gowns. So I borrowed them. Lol.
They’ve all been kind enough to let me continue, and I love it. Then, as a fan of Rebecca’s “Chasing Art” blog, I decided I needed an Art Director. She was pressed into service. She has been most encouraging.
Holly, an AGM, is also 3 other characters in my “Gowntoons” fantasy world. Through gagging around in comments, we jointly created them.(Boogapony Holly, Princess Blue Holy/Rene Rosso) These characters were invented prior to AGMs. Holly continues to co-create with me.
Tim takes special pics of the nature he lives in, and has been generous in allowing me free access to his pics, which I use to help the stories along.
All of these wonderful bloggers have inspired my creativity. How cool is that?
Very, very cool indeed, Resa! Thank you for all that information. 🙂 As is said, “It takes a village.”
Resa! You made a dream come true for me – always wanted to be an art director. I am beyond thrilled to be the Art Director in your fantastic, epic stories. I love wearing the fashions you create. Love the glasses!
Glasses are one of RB’s signatures. Glasses and palazzo pants!
I think that Resa coined the “Vi-Queens” Dave. The name would make a great book or music band title.
An incredible coinage, Rebecca! 🙂
I did make it up! If anyone else did, I don’t know about it.
It would, wouldn’t it. And imagine the costumes.
I love your images, dear Resa! All of them 💖💖💖
Thank you so much, Luisa! 💖💖💖
You are always welcome, dear Resa 🌹
lovely, all!
Thank you, Beth!
What a beautiful ensemble, truly gorgeous and inspiring work!
Oloriel, Thank you!
I do enjoy drawing, and have gotten better. So I’ll just keep drawing!
The “Gowntoons” are lots of fun for me.
Ah yes … your many forms of creativity on displayed here. The music is haunting, but fitting. Clink!
Frank,
Thank you! Holly picked the music, and I can’t get over it. Haunting is the word.
Clink!
What a lovely way to start the weekend. All the creations are beautiful, and the victory over Bezella and her crew is rewarding. ell done all. 🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂
Dear John,
Thank you!
Yes, the victory, but now the AGMs & RB are stuck in protective spheres. Princess Blue Holly will have to free them.
I better start drawing!
🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂 💋
Yes you should. 💋🐂 🐂 🐂 🐂 💋
I had to hold my breath, when Bezella appeared, John!!! Yikes!!
Yes. Me too.
Youa re simply the best, truly. Loving me these Vi-Queens. So brilliant I am sitting erhe chuckling. Your story line is braw too xxxxxxx
Shey!
OMG! Now you’re stuck in a protective bubble. As you and the other Vi-Queens will have to be freed, I will have to draw up another episode of “Gowntoons”.
xxxxxxxxxxx
We await the fate…. xxxxxx
Yes – with bated breath!
Shey – you looked spectacular in your pale moss green silk bias cut gown. There is power in your gold tipped spear!!
It repels bad and attracts good!
I am also smiling at Wolf Song. My youngest grandie disdains to tell you what the cow or the dog says, but wolves now? He goes about howling. Often without asking him. Thank you. THANK YOU for this fabulous post and for inclduing me x
Aaaarrrooooooo!
I like the Wolf’s song too! Your grandie has good taste. (As long as he doesn’t grow up to be a werewolf)
Honestly, what would I do without AGM Shey? I’ve learned a whole style of drawing the face and gown attitude. Thank you for continuing to allow me the privilege!
Anyway, look forward to drawing your latest heroine. Aaarrrroooooo!
xxx
Resa….I am the one who feels so honored that you do this for and of me, i mean that. Your drawing are amazing. I have them framed all round my house. AAARRRRROOOOOO. The youngest grandie has this real cutey face and gorgeous titian hair but he is quite feral emotionally. He likes noithing better than if you wolf howl too. We hold long conversations. Again, thank you so much for letting me be part of the AGMs.
So beautiful dear Resa. I’m swept away by your mystical Viking Queen s, exquisite in your creations, surrounded by breathtaking flower power of all shades and shapes. Your creativity has no bounds. The ancient gods of fashion cannot compete with your skills and immeasurable imagination. Thank you , the AGM’s thank you for all the beautiful delightful adventures.
xo🐭🐭xo
Dear Holly!
Yes, I drew the pics, but I had inspiration from all who are encouraging.
Also, I have a wonderful collaborator in you. Your ideas and your poetic sense contribute a lot. Not to mention, you come up with the perfect music choices. I am always taken by surprise.
Of course PBH will now have to free the AGM V-Q’s & RB from the protective spheres. I can hardly wait to start drawing PBH’s new outfits.
Anyway, I’ll be in touch about the ideas I have there. Hopefully you will find one in specific as funny as I do.
We have another project on the go, so first things first, and Dale’s Art Gown is getting close to being finished.
It’s good to be busy. Adore you! (& thank you so much!)
oxo🐭🐭xox
You, my lovely, never cease to amaze me , with every gown, I imagine it cannot be more breathtaking and then comes the next. Somehow you are able to create so perfectly for each individual AGM. PBH is ready and able to set them and our lovely RB free to upend the evil doers and rescue the beautiful AGM world ( with the help of our queen of the fashion world ❤️).
Sending a big high five to our keeper of all things in nature, Timothy. Well done my friend.
Very excited about Dales gown.
We shall put our head together and plan the next adventure or I should say I can’t wait for you to astound me once again.
XOXOXO
Can’t wait!!
Wonderful post. I love the Viking theme. Fun story and your drawings and colages are exquisite.
Dear Tim,
Thank you!
Also thank you for continuing to be an inspiration and allowing me access to your photos. Lol! … and to having my way with them when needed. xx
My photos wouldn’t be much good for anything if creative people like you didn’t make use of the.
Well, I’m having fun! Lol… going to your blog is like a trip to the country for me. xx
Tim – your photos are epic – perfect for this post!!!
Thanks, Rebecca.
Wonderful and creative post. I love “vi-queens!” 😊 Gorgeous gowns and fabulous fun! 💙
Thanks Merril!
Me too, I love vi-queens. It’s off kilter to only have vikings, in this day and age.
It’s time for vi-queens to tun the planet! I mean, they couldn’t do worse. 💙 And they could wear gowns if they wanted. Or jeans… or anything. 💙
You’re welcome, Resa! 😂
Yeah!!!
Vi-queens rule! 😂👑
“Vi-Queens” – love it! Good to see the AGMs at it again. Great drawings, as usual. I like the wolf song. Simple but appropriate for these vi-queens.
Thanks Trent!
Yeah, Vi-Queens just popped into my Gowntoons mind. Still, there should be Vi-Queens in reality. It is the 21st century, after all! Are you kayaking? Can you in the winter? Anyway, pets for the dogs and hugs and kisses for the cats.
Yes, there were female viking warriors back in the day, so today there should be Vi-Queens.
I have kayaked through the winter before, but I was closer to water then (I am very close still, but…) and the water I was close to was very calm. I do hope to be out in early spring, though the last few years it was late spring. Thought I will be skiing again this year. Hey, maybe I can work it out so I ski one weekend and kayak the next!
Cats are here so I will give them kisses for you but I’ll have to wait until evening to pat the dogs for you.
Hi Resa, this is such a delightful post. All the gowns are simply stunning, but I lovely Holly’s best. It is reminiscent for me of my wedding dress. The heart tree is beautiful and unusual. If I was getting married now, instead of 23 years ago, I would want your Tenesa Honorary art gown. I love the colours.
Thank you Robbie!
Yes, Holly’s gown is quite cool. I’ve always like lacing clothes into shape. It’s an ancient technique to making clothes fit, and giant crinolines are always romantic.
The Tangle-Heart tree is gorgeous. It’s on Tim’s property. I believe he said it is a dead cottonwood tree. I’ve been fascinated with it since the first time I saw it.
Ah, Tenesa! I adore her. She started out a wedding gown. Several gals have asked about using her as a wedding gown. Alas, she is a skimpy size 2, and no one has fit her, yet. I know the skirt is full, but the bodice is stiff and heavily boned into the miniature waist. Scarlett O’Hara might fit in!
( I love the little kitty inside the flower!)
I’m glad you like Small. She is my favourite kitten. Size 2 is wat to small for me, you willl have to keep the gown for Scarlett 😂. I do love side skits. They are very feminine.
Oops that shou be way and will 😫
Exquisite one and all. Love the creative collaboration.
Thank you dear Cindy! ❦❦
That is great artwork!
Thank you so much, Phil!
Oh, my goodness dahling… you are riding the waves of creativity.
What a theme and what a fantastic collection of Art Gowns! I really can’t pick a favorite and I could be biased… but really …WOW!
Dahling, your drawings, the story, the creative use of Tim’s amazing photos are a wonder. You are amazing!
and you got Hera wagging her tail like crazy too!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Aww, thank you dahling Marina!
I know you are up to your ears, but once you are resettled, you shall be back on the wave.
Plus, nothing is more conducive to taking time to be creative than needing to do housework or taxes, both of which are hanging around here.
HERA!!! xoxoxo🧽🧽xoxoxo🧽🧽xoxoxo🧽🧽xoxoxo🧽🧽xoxoxo🧽🧽xoxoxo🧽🧽
…and I look forward to coming back!
Yuk… taxes! I used to do them myself until they ‘advanced’ technologically and you need special apps only accountants have and special nerves too to deal with them!
Sending you enhanced hugs and energy as well as extra Hera kisses!
xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
OH! Thank you for. the reblog! xxxxx
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Marina – you are unforgettable in your blueberry dyed gossamer cotton gown. Resa defined your beautifully with these words – “god’s musical muse.”

Gorgeous gowns! I’ll take Vi-Queens over Vikings any old day of th week. I really enjoyed the video, too. My Siberian husky has the same amber eyes as the wolf.
As Al Pacino would say, this post is FIAH!!!
With a capital Va Va Va Voom! And some extra boom for good measure.
What a show, Resa!
Thank you, Marc!
Aw rats, now I have the old Ohio Players song in my ear. 🎶 FIAH..uh uh oo! FIAH 🎶
On those notes,
Time to go draw more!
MUAH!
What a great song to have in your head though!
You go girl!
MUAH!
True!!
MUAH!
MUAH!
Vi-Queens is such a clever word. The gowns are delightful.
Thank you Dan!
I love my Vi-Queens. The word just tumbled off my brain.
It’s great!
🤗
Love it all!
Thank you kindly Becky!
My pleasure!
I love thid so much, Resa. It’s beautiful and wonderful. I love my gown. I love all the gowns. The music, the art, the spirt. All perfect. Thank you so much.❤️
Welcome Gigi! It was fun to do this! ❤️❤️
It’s so fabulous!!! Always look forward to MORE!
XO
A fabulous display of gowns, Resa. I love the Vi-queen theme and your models are to die for gorgeous. A fun story too. There’s nothing like vanquishing our enemies with flowers. <3 ❤ ❤
Thank you, Diana!
Lovin’ the V-Queens!
Agree on the Flower Power. Holly, the amazing poet’s influence of kindness & love, is why none of the bad guys get killed. They get spared and become allies, turned into fluffy clouds or puppets. I’m having a heyday with the puppet thing.
Thank you for seeing the fun in the story! It is a “Gowntoon”, after all.
💓<3 ❤ ❤
Awww. Holly has a superpower just like you. Bad guys transforming into good guys is the best. 🙂
Yeah! xx 🙂
Resa – a wonderful post that features beauty, courage and adventures. Crafting an epic narrative that captivates and enthralls us is a remarkable feat. You have an ability to maintain suspense and keep the audience engaged throughout, using music, art, community and intrigue. By weaving multiple storylines together and leaving some questions unanswered, you build anticipation and keep us guessing what comes next. Looking forward to more.
Thank you for including me in your adventures. I am honoured!! I LOVE the fashion statement that you have created for me.
Thank you, Rebecca! I enjoy drawing the Gowntoons, and making up the kooky stories (with help from Holly). Her influence is why none of the bad guys get killed. They just get spared, turned into fluffy clouds or puppets.
I’m hot on the puppet thing! I crack up every time I draw them.
Yay! I am so thrilled you are happy to be included.
Your look is unique, and I already know how to draw you, and the others.
Winter was (still is) dark and gloomy here. It is wonderful to have this creative sunshine. AND the new Art Gown is about 80%.
Have the most wonderful week ahead! Hugs!
Oh Sorceress!! Your creations are outstanding, as per. I know the next phase of the story will be just as wonderful. LOVE the Viking theme! You make us all look beyond fabulous!
Thank you, my Sorceress of the Cloth xoxoxo 🧚♀️🌟 oxoxox
Welcome dear Thunder!
I like that my fun is our fun.
It’s been so dark here that I had to push my sewing stuff aside and make a mini photo studio, set up an easel, lights, etc. to take these pics. That took me a week, as I had to do some reshoots.
Anyway, all that is put away, the sewing stuff is back in place. It’s got to be 80%. Will keep you posted!
xox⚡️💥oxo
You’re the best.
And yes, it’s all our fun. Ugh to the darkness. Brighter days are coming.
Woo hoo!!! xoxo 🧚♀️🌟 oxox
Yes! To brighter daze! xoxoxo
Yaya! xoxoxo
Hi Resa, what a thrilling narrative and display of your stunning gowns and gorgeous models! You always outdo yourself! 🙂 And of course, mystical flowers will prevail! Just awesome and amazing as always! ❤️🌷🌺👏🏼🎉🤗🥰💖
Thank you dear Lauren!
I’ve always believed in flower power. I suppose it’s naive to think that goodness and love can overcome hate and war, but I shall continue on! ❤️🌷🌺xoxoxo❤️🌷🌺
You’re so welcome, Resa, and if you’re naive then so am I because that’s how I feel too! Hugs! 🌷🌺🌻🌼🥀💐🪻❤️🤗
Hugs!!! 🌺💐❦❦❦🌺💐🌺💐❦

Resa, your creations are absolutely spectacular. Your drawings of course, and your gorgeous gowns along the right on your homepage. Wow. 👏🏻
Thank you, Michele! I appreciate that.
Thank you! I was wonderfully lost in your stunning masterpieces.
That means a lot, Michele. Especially as that I make them out of textile trash. I don’t quite have my thoughts in order, but I want them to be an example that we don’t need brand new to create beauty.
Textile pollution is the second only to plastics.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. You and my artist daughter would get along well and have plenty to talk about. 👍🏻
👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻 Cool!
Yes! 😊
As Mike said the right words: You are the lady of ‘art’ in all its glory, I must befriended without a daubt! You have gathered all the super ladies here, my dear Resa.
Do you know? What I love about your work is the classic delicacy that can be seen and felt in every fiber of the clothes. The music video is lovely!💖🤙🦋💕
Pray allow me to kneel before thine court, Ô ye Vi-Queens, and be your humble knight…
You’re in! xx
🙏🏻
In awe of these whimsical, elegant designs, Resa! Beautiful colors and models. ❤
Thank you, Layla!
Sorry for the late reply! I’ve been away from this blog for a bit.
Cheers!
It’s been a short decade since I’ve been on WordPress. I’m now back and delighted to see that you and Art Gowns are forging ahead with battle axes aloft! And why, oh, why haven’t I ever used the word “sunder”?! Love your work/play and sense of humor!
Thank you for the lovely , Camilla!
I took a small break from this blog, so pardon for the late reply.
I remember you. Welcome back!
Dear Resa, I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I admit that I’m terrible about getting confused when people have more than one blog… I love your fashion sketches so much. My favorite is the moss-green silk gown. I love the single godet in the skirt.
Thanks for the delightful story. Big hugs.
LOL! I get confused too, and just by my own 2 blogs!
No worries… and hey I just found this wonderful coment.
Thank you, Teagan!
HUGS!
Ohhh! I love this. I adore Diana and collect her books like treasure. A beautiful review , excellent job on that and the models and gowns are perfection. I have fallen in love with the flower vine tattoo along the back , it’s gorgeous! You’ve done a spectacular job of bringing her book characters to life dear Resa. Congratulations Diana, another breathtaking book, a wonderful review and thrilling illustrations by Resa ( no one does that better) to bring it to life.
sending love and hugs and thank you’s for a spectacular collab !
xoxoxoxo
Thank you dear Holly!
Diana write great books. This is my 3rd.
It’s lots of fun drawing characters, and dressing them.
The flower vine tattoo…
Wow! It was a challenge. Putting clothes on a body is one thing. Putting ink on a body is another thing.
I had to study flowers, more than I ever had.
The bonus was Gi’s Chicklets’ Easter party. I drew all you AGMs in Easter flower hats. Now, I can draw several flowers. Also, it was the first time I tried to draw a bird.
The tattoo drawing is my fave, and I’m thrilled you love it!
xox🐭🐭oxo
It’s a delight, I would proudly wear it on my back or down the back of my leg , whoa!!
Yahoo! xo🏍xo

Hi Resa! Finally had a chance to see more of your stunning Art Gown posts! Oh my, these are amazing drawings, they’re all so beautiful, though my faves are Marina’s and Holly’s gowns, especially those waist lets lacing 😻 Cheers!
Hello Ruth!
