“In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” – 2022

This New Year is about light and life.

Happy New Year! Boogapony Holly here in my best “Iron Butterfly” colours! I’m ponying on down into the light of 2022 with you all, while RR, the AGMs & R.B. are on holidays.

Perhaps you just need to take it easy, and let the light shine on you?

Or you’ve decided to climb for the stars!

The light of life can be found in your inside garden.

Or find it, in your outside garden.

Wherever you find it, bask in it!

You’re in “The Garden of Life”. “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”

⭐️ FYI ⭐️

This is three and a half minutes of song & 14 minutes of music jam, with a psychedelic light show. What else could one ask for?

Well, that was long enough for me to do a costume change! For everyone who is not the “Iron Butterfly”  type, I’d like to introduce a song completely from the other side of the stars.

The Age Of Aquarius is defined as “an astrological era believed to bring increased spirituality and harmony on earth.” Start dates vary. However, whether it began 0n the vernal equinox on March 20, 2021, or December 2020, the astrological ages last approximately 2,150 years.

And the most iconic drum solo of all times. I can still play it. What a wonderful ramp up to 2022. 2021 was still like “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”. Maybe we will get “In the Garden of Eden” right in 2022.

              1. Timothy Price

I sure do. It’s very basic. When I was in the 8th grade, around 1970, Joel had a party at his house. We put on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and danced to it. Once all the solos started the girls I was dancing with and I just hung on each other for 13 minutes. Groovy time for young budding preteens.

    1. Lol! I’ll have to check out what was on the flip side.
So happy you like my Art Gowns. Seems they have become a lot of what I am about.
Happy New Year to you, Frank! I know I’m 2 days early! I like to get a head start, so I don’t get caught with not enough time! 😉 🍷🍷

  2. Oh, dahlings… if this be the Garden of Life, I wanna live in it! 😉
What a farewell to a year and an blessing to the new one!

Hey, Holly gave me the idea to do a 1920’s fashion show. I’m so excited!

      1. Yes it is and here’s to that!!!
Great idea, the 1920’s show!!!! Can’t wait!!!!
Love and love snd more love to you and hugs to eternity!

    1. TOF!
“When I was young, it was more important
      Pain more painful
      Laughter much louder
      Yeah, when I was young…”
      OH Wait!
I got off track. That’s an Animals song.
“I am not an animal”.. Oh wait… that’s from the movie “The Elephant Man”
What I mean to say is
When I was young, all the girls learned to sew. Then we revolted, and now we know how to say… SO?
What I can do is a fading art craft.
I do it all: make patterns, drape, cut, stitch (the Art Gowns are all sewn by hand, fck the machines… so not couturier) work with texture and colour… and extend my ideas beyond those confinements.
      Anyway…THANK YOU!
      Happy New Year, dear TOF!

  3. Just whenI think you can’t get anymore fabulous…you get more fabulous. I’m dancing and singing, LET THE SUN SHINE, LET THE SUN SHINE IN. I saw Hair live and it rocked. A lifetime ago. Your gowns are incredible. What fun to see them on a model. So beautiful. I love the last sketch. Gorgeous gown. Loved this, Resa. LOTS. ❤

    1. I wish I wold have seen “Hair”
I adore the song “Hair”. I adore hair. All my boyfriends had long hair! xoxo
I need to get my gowns on more girlfriends. It’s been a difficult thing the last 2 years.

  5. Resa, a blog post full of amazing gowns, great “narration,” and two memorable songs!

“In-a-Gadda-da-Vida” was one of the first vinyl albums I ever bought (in 1968), and I still have it. A bit ragged at this point. 🙂 And I agree with Timothy Price that the album’s title song has rock’s most iconic drum solo, even though some drummers (like Neil Peart of Rush) were more technically adept.

    1. In-A-Gadda-Da-DaveAstor,
Don’t you know I’ll be reading you.
      In-A-Gadda-Da-DaveAstor,
Every word I say is true.
Thank you for the compliment on my gowns and writing!
How cool that you still have the album. Never give up a gold mine!

Trivia: My hubs is a musician/composer. Around 2000 AD he bought an analog mixing board from RUSH. It’s signed by the band. Neil Peart’s signature is there for all to see.

      Wanna buy an analog mixer?

        1. True.. but it’s a HUGE keepsake.
We’d like to sell it, but it’s old tech. I’m sure there’s someone out there who’d like it, but they would have to live in Toronto. Shipping it would be a nightmare. 😀

    1. Thank you, Michele! I adore my gowns. I make them out of old clothes, fabric ends, freebies, old fabrics that have been stored for years. In other words, If it’s headed for landfill, it could be a gown! Happy New Year!

      1. You are most welcome. I applaud your talent and your mission! I am excited to have connected with you. I used to sew and found great joy in creating something from a swathe of fabric. Happy New Year to you too!

    1. I’m sure you know how to play the drum solo!
As I recall, drums are your instrument.
Dearest LDN, thank you for the lovely compliment! You know how much you mean to me!
      xoxoxo

  6. Gorgeous gowns, Resa. I’ll be singing the song all afternoon. Remembering Hair live in NYC, back in the 60s. Looking forward to 2022, and publishing the book. It will be my “Garden of Eden” moment. The last gown, full of light, is my favorite. Happy New Year! 🥳🎶 Christine

    1. They should bring back “Hair” for a run. They’ve relaunched “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

You sound thrilled about your book, as you should be! Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🥂🕊

  7. Dear Resa, this is a beautiful New Years gift for us all. Your gowns are stunning ( the lovely model too) they transform us to “ a garden of life”. Thank you for that rocking music 🎶 a classic and perfect for the upcoming year. Boogapony is thrilled to be a part of this age of Aquarius! Beautiful my sweet friend xoxoxo

    1. Sweet Holly!
Music is a driving force. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida reminds me that there is a garden of life.
I’m thrilled Boogapony is here to welcome in the New Year with me/us.
The Boogapony saga continues, as we enter the New Year.
Look what we have done with our combined creative energy!
      xoxoxoxo
PS. Did you see the studio where the band plays…in the pic climbing the ladder?
It’s so fab down there! I can hardly wait ’til the GF’s get to come around, again!
Love you, dear dahling Meece! xoxoxoxo

      1. I saw that awesome band room! Wish I was there rocking out to in-a-gadda- da-vida! I hope they will gather there again very soon. Cheers to you dear Meece, have the most beautiful New Year filled with joy peace and beauty, lovely Resa. 🥂💫✨xo

        1. I know!
All that music room going to waste.
          Soon, we hope!
I’m going for the “most beautiful New Year filled with joy peace and beauty,”
          🥂💫✨xo🥂💫✨xo
          2 cheers to New Years!

  9. Hi Resa! I am sorry for the long delay. Please excuse! I hope you had a nice celebration of the Christmas time, and all is well. Thanks for sharing this very intriguing vidclips, and the very impressive images of these beautiful gowns. When i would be a woman (or at least would have the body measures Lol) i would like to wear them. Happy New Year to you and yours (Holly included :-)) xx Michael

    1. No worries, Michael!
Happy to see you whenever you pop by.
It’s been an interesting holiday season.
      Thank you for the reblog!

I still can’t get on your site. Sometimes I can leave a comment or a like if I see it in the Reader. I rarely use the reader, though.
      HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🎉🎉🥂🎉🎉🥂🎉🎉🥂

  10. Oh I remember both of those songs very well, so they made me really smile. Those were the days of every musician doing a huge solo and drummers getting whiplash during theirs. 🙂 I’ll take the outdoor garden gown please. 🙂 But they’re all marvelous. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that your new year is filled to the brim and overflowing with joy and blessings.

    janet and you know who

      1. Not a bad song to have in your head! I like Deep Purple. I get “Highway Star” stuck in my head. Second track on the same album.
Hopefully, it’s out of your head now, and I haven’t reminded you and put it back in there! LOL

    1. Dear You Know Who & Janet,
Whiplash would be a good stage name for a drummer.
The outdoor garden gown is a fab choice.
I thought in the lack of light of all that’s happened in the last 2 years, shining a spot on some unfettered unbridled enthusiasm was the way to go.
Christmas day we met our small family outside on the street, in the cold, wearing masks and exchanged presents.
      Dystopian, yes, but I’m happy.
Happy New Year to you and yours, and thank you for the warm wishes. I send them back to you! ❤

  11. I knew that you would host a brilliant New Year party. Glamour, music, a light show, scintillating conversation, colour and memories. Thanks for the invitation to join you as we head into 2022, a year about light and life. I especially appreciated your thoughts on “inside and outside garden” Sending many hugs and lots of love!

    1. I was wondering if anyone would get my inside/outside garden comments.
      Of course you do!
How fortunate to have so many virtual friends who can stop by fr a New Years wish.
      Thrilled you like the party!
      Love and {{{HUGS}}}

  12. How kerrrazy, I was just recently listening to that In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida song. I always thought it was “In the Garden of Eden, baby”. That’s just me being stupid I guess.

Hope you’ve had a proper belting Christmas! And here’s to a proper belting 2022! Wear a mask! Keep safe! Don’t mug anyone!

    1. Very kerrrrazy! Lots of people think it’s In The Garden Of Eden.
Don’t mug anyone? You’re no fun! Now what am I supposed to do on NY eve?

I need to write you, and will do so soon! 🎉🎉🥂🎉🎉🥂🎉🎉🥂🎉🎉🥂

  13. Happy New Year, dear Resa! Thank you for all the light–and those stunning, gorgeous gowns. It’s an extra treat to see them on a live model in different settings.
The songs bring back high school memories. 😀

    1. HAPPY NEW YEAR MERRIL!
Thrilled you like my Art Gowns. I don’t use real models. I use friends. My niece is modelling the copper and bark Art Gown.
Of course last 2 years has been slow.
High school…. from here to there sure went fast. I believe I didn’t even get all my homework handed in! 😂 🎊🥂❤️

    1. How lovely to hear your words Jean Daniel!

I wish you the same pleasures in your art, which is inspiring. How lovely that we have found the creative soul in each other. See you in 2022! (Tomorrow I’ll be by your blog!)

  14. We will never forget these eventful times for how they moved us in the most heartfelt ways.
Top of the list moves these lovely art gowns! They will become most memorable! How
beautifully they grace the body with love and fashion in ways only a master can accomplish.
Thank you for this and for all the kindness you have shared throughout the year. So looking
forward to 2022 for more fun and fashion with you! May the stars shine brightly on your
journey and the heavens smile as you go. Love, Eddie

    1. Dear Eddie,
      These have been eventful times!
Making the Art Gowns is a joy. I sew them by hand. It is very Zen. I make them out of fabrics and old clothes…anything headed for landfill. It is very satisfying to turn trash to treasure.

It’s peaceful and enlightening when I visit your blog. You always have a great message. I look forward to many visits in the new year.
May the stars shine brightly on you too, Eddie, as you are a bright star that shines on everyone.
      Love Resa xo

        1. I hope some of what I have created lasts after me. I have no children,so creative output is the thing.
You know Eddie, when musicians make live music, it floats into the air…. into the universe. One can record it, but that is merely a facsimile. I believe that music is still out there, somewhere.
I think all creativity and good deeds are with the music. Just a thought.

    1. Dear Socrates,

Thank you for this lovely comment.
Also, thank you for all the joy, bopping, foot tapping and relaxation your MK-O music and other music selections have brought me! I look forward to visiting Oannes in the New Year!
      Sending love!!

  16. What a flowery bit of funkadelic mastery you have woven here, Resa. You are the pre-eminent mistress of beautiful mayhem and you ring in the new year with a beautiful gallery of light and life and hope and love. Thank you for it.

    Happy New Year!

    1. Muchos gracias, dear Teagan!
Good things in 2022, for sure!
I’m excited for my answer to your challenge to be posted. It will be my next post on GLAM.
I just need to mop up all the fab comments, and to visit all who came here to wish me a Happy New Year.
Sending {{{hugs}}} and all great wishes to you!
      You are amazing!

  17. Great mewsic over here, Resa♪♫♪♫♪ and fantastic dresses, especially the dress in the outside garden. 🎊Pawkisses for a Happy New Year to you and hope that all your wishes come true in 2022✨🐾😽💞

    1. Thank you!!! Pawkisses back to you, and a very Happy Year ahead!
      ✨🐾😽✨🐾😽 ❤
The Art Gown in the outside garden is named "Velvet Tango". So glad you like her!

  18. This was such an amazing and creative post. I enjoyed it so much but couldn’t figure out to leave a comment until Holly told me. To everyone who involved themselves with this project I really enjoyed it all. It was happy, creative, the gowns and drawings were so much fun. Very beautiful collaboration amongst so many. Many wishes for a happy and beautiful new year. Love Joni

      1. You are so talented. I love fashion but here in NC you don’t see many gowns. When we lived close to Seattle we would have seasonal theater tickets and we loved dressing up. Your work is not only for a wonderful reason but so incredibly creative. The best to you in 22 as well. Love Joni

  19. You are full of light and energy and this post is a great start to the new year. I recognise the Aquarius song from a tv advert i think but I don’t know what it was advertising. Your gowns are fabulous, your friends in them are gorgeous. Much love this new year to you and hubby xxx

    1. Much love and admiration to you and George for 22, dear Charlotte! xxx
Ah, Aquarius was a huge hit from the Broadway musical “Hair”.
Lol, seems like any hit over 30 years is a commercial these days.
I can hardly wait to see what your next project will be!!!!!! xo

  20. Jeez louise. I was sure I had commented on this!
First off, and I’m sure we’ve already Happy New Yeared, but hey… Imma say it again! Happy 2022!
You start off the year with quite the bang. Beauty and light and fab music!
Here’s to us having a year that frees us from our masks!
