Wedding Love

Robbie’s gown has icing on it.

Resa’s gown thinks she’s a sonnet.

Both are made, to love, an homage.

Robbie Cheadle made a fun and gorgeous wedding post on Latinos USA with Art Gown Victorian Sonnet and her fabulously creative cakes. Pop on over for a taste of beauty!

By the way,

As a guest artist at my friend’s Pop-Up Art Gallery Show, I have space to show 2 Art Gowns.

A few Art Gowns pics printed on faux canvases, then painted over selectively with iridescent paint, will also be there.

Additionally, five portraits will be on a slice of wall. The 4 below are now framed.

One of the drawings below will be the 5th. If you’re leaving a comment, let me know which one you’d pick!

This is my first time showing in public, and it is a small sample try. If you are already in Toronto, pop by if time allows!

Special thanks to D. Wallace Peach, who sent me all the special antique fabrics that became Victorian Sonnet!

Finally, to all my northern pals who have endured a cold, snowed-in, icy and hideous winter,

  1. Love the portraits, Resa! Re picking the fifth, such a tough choice; they’re all so good. But I guess the Jim Morrison one. Congratulations on (very deservedly) being part of that gallery show!

    1. Thank you, Dave! It’s all a bit scary and exciting.

Ahh, Morrison! I fell in love with him when I was drawing him. Then again, interestingly, I seem to fall in love with whomever I’m drawing, except Freddie Mercury. 🤭

  2. Oh Sorceress! I am so proud and happy for you! I wish I could be there! Damn. Unless I make arrangements to go early (will be in TO on the 14th… maybe I can make arrangements.)

As for which one to pick? Almost impossible… either Freddy or Jim… but Bob is fab, too…. I didn’t help much, did I?

    1. LOL…Freddie, Jim or Bob… well it’s a narrowing.
So, Thunder, I wouldn’t make extra arrangements that cost money. The 14th… how many days are you here for?
      OR…how many hours?
First things first… your vaycay! We’ll talk when you return!
      xoxoxoxoxoxo

      1. Consider the order I said them to be my choices…
I’ll be in Toronto from the 14th to the 17th, for sure. Then I make my way to Kingston, Ottawa and back to Montréal.

        Yes! Vacay! Wooooot!

  3. How beautiful ❤ Thought of my mom seeped in as I saw the doll cake she always made me one for my birthday which oddly will be my 70th in five days. She always made my white rainbow girl gowns as well. Have a wonderful weekend when it arrives Resa.

That is so cool you are having a public showing of your art. You have so much talent and creativity. Your artwork belongs in a public showing. I think the pensive Dylan would be good for the 5th slot.

    1. Aww, thank you Merril!
LOL… at one point I wasn’t going to tell anyone…. I do feel scared and excited all at once.
The friend I am showing with has had 8 previous art shows, so she’s being a tremendous force of calm and positive.

      Nothing ventured ………. !

      1. Scared and excited sounds about right! I bet it will be a lot of fun. I think people will definitely come over to see the art gowns–because they’re unique.

My mom participated in her first art show when she was in her 80s!

    1. Thanks John!
      Exciting, yes. SCARY, yesser.
Oh well, might as well try to stay on the excited side. My friend has 8 shows under her belt. I’m learning a lot, including confidence. OX

  5. This is so wonderful. I love the wedding dress fabric ( such a beautiful gift from Diana ! I hope you’re having loads of fun with this, I don’t know how I could pick a favorite sketch but I do live Leonard Cohen and Dylan.

    1. We were at the venue this morning. There’s more space than I recalled. I might do 3 gowns now!
Leonard is already framed, and so Dylan gets another vote. He seems to be leading votes. I’ll probably do Neil, as well!

            1. Thank you dear Meece!
Lots to do for the show, lots to do in life..and those pesky taxes… one day at a time.

I’ll get those cropped pics to you tonight or tomorrow! 🕊❦xoxo 🐭🐭 xoxo❦🕊

              1. Okay, I sent the crops. Just ignore the mail with the whole lot of them cropped. I sent that before I read your mail. SO, I also replied to your mail, with the 2 pics you chose, cropped!

Sorry about that. It seems you are not the only one swimming in mails!!!

  6. Resa – what an absolute joy to see this post. Robbie’s icing and your sonnet!!! You are a dynamic due. There’s something deliciously right about art gowns and poetry sharing space. And now to see your work stepping into a public gallery feels momentous.

The gowns are not merely garments. They are declarations of imagination. The way you transform fabric into narrative, texture into movement, is something wholly your own. And those portraits framed and ready!! WOW! (special thanks to Diana!!) If I were in Toronto, I would absolutely pop by. I am jumping up and down excited for you.

  7. How can one choose a favourite among so many favourites?! Can I choose them all? 😁😅 However, thank you, dear Resa, for sharing some masterpieces of yours. 💖🙏🤗😘

PS: As you may have heard, the US and Israel have taken action against the Mullahs; I hope it concludes quickly with the regime in Iran falling.🤞🤞🤞

    1. Lol, you can choose all, Aladin!
I sure am excited about having a s
how, and I am nervous all at the same time.

Ohh yes! I have been watching the news enough. (but not all the time)
I hope the same that you do.
It is going to be difficult for the people to organize against the regime without internet. I heard they have been cut off.

I hope the US has the sense to turn the internet back on. They have the capability.

      Do they have a leader?

      YES! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
      ❦🕊💙🕊❦

        1. Yes, I agree about the son. He seems…. iffy.
There must be someone. Perhaps in the shadows.
Unfortunately trump has changed his tone saying he’ll negotiate with the new leader the military guard allows. ❦🕊❦

          1. Iffy; lol! He’s a sixty-five-year-old kid! Still, I believe Trump can’t afford to pick a leader he doesn’t trust. There are many talented thinkers in Iran who could step up. 💞

  8. Hi Resa. Gorgeous photos as always. What a fab show that will be. I love your portraits – all of them. I’m kind of stuck between Jim Morrison and Amy. Maybe both?
Big and hot sunny hugs from Mexico. xoxoxo

    1. Thank you, Alex!

I am sooo behind blogging, and everything. The art show is eating up time.

I just left a review on Goodreads. I don’t see it on the feed yet, but I do see it posted on my account. I’m not familiar with the platform, although I have an account.

      I wrote:

The game in this book is beyond any gameshow you will ever see.
I was fascinated from the get go. Alexander Raphael came up with an intriguing concept beyond simply winning or losing.
This book is about: vanity, ego, the need to be adored, revival, renewal, self discovery and survival.

Whether running the show, obsessed with a “do anything for ratings” focus, or competing with a need to be in the hearts and minds of the world, all are challenged.

OMG..I messed up, had to edit. and repost – twice… let me know if you see the review!

      1. I did see it 🙂 I haven’t posted for about a week so replied to your email. Thank you so much. I’m so happy you liked it and so touched you took the time to read and review it.

  9. There is always SO MUCH going on in these posts, Resa. You have your funky, your groovy get downs and then there is an endless supply of beauty. From your insanely talented hands as well as all those brilliant creatives you call friends. And the humor . . . I cannot forget that.

As for which one? That’s an unfair ask because they are all amazing. I loved Amy from the get but Leonard, how classic is that? If I HAD to choose. Leonard.

  10. Gaaah.. somehow I missed this post!! I can’t wait for your Pop-Up Art Gallery Show, Resa!! I wish I were in Toronto, I definitely would stop by… heck, I’d be happy to even help you set things up.

LOVE the two gowns and the four portraits!! As for the fifth one… man, they’re all so amazing, it’s tough to choose. I guess the two that spoke to me right away is the Jim Morrison one, something about his expression. Second pick is Tina Turner because THOSE LEGS! Her concert was the first one I ever attended, with my late grandma, no less!

Best of luck with the gallery show, Resa and happy Spring!!

    1. I am soooo excited (and terrified) about the show.

No worries about missing posts. I’m already falling even worse behind than normal, as the Art Show has begun taking up more and more of my time.

If you were here…. LOVE! xoxoxox

  11. Wow, Resa — you really have been busy. I’m sorry to be so late. I’m still trying to get some energy back. I’ll check out your post with Holly tomorrow. By the way, your Neil Young sketch there might make a good #5 — it’s brilliant. But Amy, Freddy, or Bob would be my choice. Oh, wait, just one? Ugh! You captured something wonderful in the moody Dylan portrait. But I feel more music in the others. I’ve always loved your Freddy Mercury sketch — it touches me somehow. But for capturing likeness, music, style, and emotion, your sketch of Amy Winehouse is utterly brilliant. To me, it’s the best one on this post.

I hope you and yours are doing well. Hugs on the wing.

        1. I like your thought process! I just gave Amy to my hubs, for his birthday. She’s his favourite singer, maybe ever. So, he gets her.
I might get posters of her made, though. I’ve had some made of Janis, Keith, Cohen and Joni.

Hopefully posters will sell. I just need to sell 2 drawings or 10 posters to get my investment back.

Not that I really care, as the experience is what I’m after.
          HUGS

  12. bad me. I bookmarked this to come back to cos it was late at night and I couldn’t make my mind up re t your fab drawings but I did see re your art show which was probably why I thought I’d already read, liked and commented. Then as I was going through my bookmarks I saw it.. So here I am and I still can’t make my mind up. Can I have them all?? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
