Princess Blue Holly’s Mystic Owls

Princess Blue Holly was at a stalemate battling with Etamilc. She knew Hyperion could lay a final blow, if he arrived in time!

My unease for days has troubled me, when in my study the eyes of my Black Dragon statue begin to glow. From his mouth came the pleas for help from Princess Blue Holly.

Enraged that she may be in immortal danger, I transform to the Ancient Black Dragon of the North and follow the current trails of Blue Holly’s urgent plea back to the scene where Etamilc has enslaved the Art Gown Models and My Lady.

Etamilc has chosen my element of water to battle me. Pity there is no chance of success. I dive to the depths and exhale a mighty flame that roils the water in a tornadic blast. The water turns to steam. My Lady, and the Art Gowns Models begin to rise from their hapless imprisonment. I remain to ensure there is no repeat of Etamilc’s pitiful shenanigans.

As Hyperion converted the massive amount of water into steam, they became humungous clouds. Princess Blue Holly’s mermaid outfit became too, heavy. She morphed into a new outfit she had designed especially for riding clouds.

With help from Resa & Dale’s trees; she gently guided Etamilc, now a phenomenal pink clouds formation to Tim’s magic tree sanctuary.

After being placed between Resa’s Cottonwood and Dale’s Peach tree, the clouds contracted, leaving Etamilc as a soft fluffy cloud. She was renamed Lil’ Eta, and would live in harmony with the magic trees.

With utmost urgency, PBH looked into her Tangle-Heart. Using it as a beacon, she called the Master Mystic Owl to it.

As Princess Blue Holly transformed into Rene Rosso’s spirit form, all Mystic Owls were sent out via the Tangle-Heart. Their mission: fly the Art Gowns Models back to Chicago.

As Rene Rosso flew on her owl back to Chicago, she realized the Art Gowns Models’ gowns would be too, heavy for the Mystic Owls. Further, now that the AGMs’ feet were unplanted, Dale’s Peach tree was no longer confused.

Working in tandem with Resa’s Cottonwood, the 2 magic trees managed to transform all of the AGMs into spirit forms, wearing all new spirit gowns.

The Art Gowns Models were oblivious to their reconstitutions. All they heard was music. Dale heard “live, solo, electric guitar stylings”.

Shey heard The Stones “Jumping Jack Flash”, and Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”.

Gigi  was surrounded by Queen’s “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.

Holly  was immersed in Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart jamming on “Lily Was Here”.

Marina swelled to the heartbreak of “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue”, by Bob Dylan.

Although it was about to storm, each Mystic Owl put an AGM on its back and flew away.

Suddenly, a very dangerous lightening storm broke out.  Rene Rosso sent her rendition of “Ain’t No Sunshine” (based on Melody Gardot’s version) out to the AGMs to protect them on their flight back to Chicago.

Meanwhile, back in Chicago, One-Eye was quite stressed. Ms. Rosso had had Rebecca Budd art direct an all out extravaganza, for the last night’s performance in Chicago. Tickets were sold out!

The show was set to start in less than 2 hours. Would Rene Rosso & the Art Gowns Models get back in time? Stay tuned for the next episode to find out!

FYI – The Spirit Gowns were drawn all, or in most part to the songs named under their sketches. {“live, solo, electric guitar stylings”, “Baby Blue”, “Jumping Jack Flash”, & “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”} were played by the Band Under Resa’s Bed.

  1. Yayyyyyyyyyyyy……. so glad I’m first to the show!!!!!
    Exactly what I needed!
Doesn’t get any better, really doesn’t!!!!
Speechless and happy to enjoy all the goodies in here!
Much love to the beautiful and talented hostess and everyone involved!
    Mouah! [a huge one!]

    1. Marina,
So glad you’re here! I hope you like your Spirit Gown, and I trust your Mystic Owl is a smooth ride, even in a thunder storm!
Amazing how much I enjoy drawing these Art Gowns. Thank you for being a part of my insanity!!!!
Love & Mouah back at ya!

        1. I can hardly wait for you AGM’s to get back to Chicago.
Of course, I’m not sure if I’m using gowns I’ve already drawn, or starting the new P series.
Whatever, don’t spill the beans. As you know, I got the idea from one of your wonderful “Artists” series posts. xoxoxoxoxoxo

Oh my. What an adventure. Princess Blue Holly sure has her hands full. Dragon and lightning causing all kinds of problems. Good thing those magic trees and owls were there to answer her calls and act under her command. Your drawings are wonderful and I love how the Art Gown Models rode on the owls. You come up with such cool and creative stories.

    1. Thank you, Tim!
Sometimes I feel like if I don’t do something creative, I’ll explode……. or worse, wither.
So, it’s wonderful to have so many pals out here that are also creative, and appreciative.
Also, thank you for all your wonderful pics that I can use here.
Once the AGMs get back to Chicago, there’s another big show.

I’ve already started ideas for the next adventure.
I’m torn sometimes between drawing, or working on the new Art Gown.
However, the new AG is now in the thick, and that means it’s on its way!

    1. Thank you dear Thunder!
I can hardly wait to see what you wear in the new show, when you get back to Chicago!
I hope you were nice to your Mystic Owl! You might need to be Owl riding again! xo

    1. Hmm, I wonder what else Tim has? Maybe the AGMs could escape on coyotes… or crows… or moons and planets… or …. cranes.
      Let’s work on that.
As you say… all creatures! ⚡️💥

  3. This has left me speechless dear Resa, the fabulous art gown models making their escape on Timothy’s Mystics Owls, With help from Resa & Dale’s trees gently guided Etamilc who has become a pink cloud formation into Awesome Tim’s magic tree Sanctuary! The gowns are so gorgeous and practical too. Oh, whatever would PBH do with the fabulous Hyperion to the rescue. Thank you Hyperion, you are a AGM life saver! Without you I fear a sad outcome! And They were all there, Dale, Marina, Gigi, and RR with a fabulous Torch song, and of course Rebecca guiding us along! I haven’t heard of a confused peach Tree before but there’s always a first and I’m glad things finally cleared up for PT or else…well, I don’t know what would have happened.
Sigh, Thank you all for reforming Etamilc, just a pink cloud as it should be. Resa, you genius, what would the AGM’s do without you and the band that plays under your bed? Thank dearest one, love you to the moon and back. See you in the Magic Tree Sanctuary. xoxoxoxoxoxo

    1. Thank you so much dear Holly!
You know, it was meant to be. Ever since the comic book post on GLAM, where we came up with PBH, the entire concept has mushroomed.
You have been instrumental in my insanity. Your idea that PBH never kills her enemies, that there is a kinder, more intellectual way to use the stories, is an important distinction between our “Gowntoons”and regular super-hero cartoons.
Of course the fact that PBH has many super hero outfits is a very important feature of our femme heroine. RR and all the AGMs constantly changing outfits is a perfect compliment to this idea.
Ahh, if only I could draw faster.
It is a wonderful thing that Hyperion and Tim help us with our stories.
It’s a collage of many, and fusion of loves.
      Adore you!

      1. Without your incredible creativity and imagination the awesome Art Gown models , PBH, RR, and all the beautifully adorned models would not be. It’s such fun and delivers an important message In protecting our environment as well all thanks to your brilliant and talented gift of art and thoughtfulness.
Thank you for including me, it’s a pleasure to be among these characters, the models, Hyperion, Timothy, who lend their amazing talents. Sending so much love! ❤️

              1. 💃💃🎶💖🍷🍷🍷🍷💃💃🎶💖🍷🍷🍷🍷💃💃🎶💖🍷🍷🍷🍷💃💃🎶💖🍷🍷🍷🍷💃💃🎶💖🍷🍷🍷🍷

    2. I agree Holly – Resa has a way of bringing hope into dark places. Transforming Etamilc reminds us that we can thrive within a complex, mercurial world. That by joining hands and sharing experience and knowledge we can face and overcome challenges – together.

  4. Oh, my, and here I thought I was going to have a quiet Sunday afternoon. I may have to have a nap to try to recover. 🙂 My only regret is that I’m not in Chicago anymore to see them when they all return. I love the dragon, BTW, and of course the dresses and everything else are fab as always.

    janet

    1. Thank you so much, Janet!
It’s always fun to escape for awhile in my crazy stories!
The best is, I’ve gotten a lot better at drawing, which is a very enjoyable escape on its own!
      Thank you again!!!

  5. Oh my lord…I sit on the edge of my seat for the next installment (Listening to Jumpin’ Jack Flash of course.) An amazing post LOVE my gown. Such great fun to read this. You are not just agenous, you are a tonic xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Dearest Shey!

I’m so happy you love your Spirit Gown!
The next instalment should be … not sure. If I use AGM gowns I’ve already drawn, it will be shortly into the New Year. 🎉🥂
However, if I decide to go with Art Direction from Rebecca & based on the artists’ series (especially 1 artist) that Marina has been posting, it will be a bit longer.
So many ideas, so little time.
      Nonetheless, Ep. 4 is upcoming.
There is a new Art Gown in progress.
However, between this adventure, and the new Art Gown, I plan to review “His Judas Bride”.
(I can hardly wait to draw a see through gown!)
A tonic, eh? I wonder if we can somehow bottle me and sell it for mucho profit?
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  6. This is so creative and totally adorable. I love that you used Timothy’s trees and all your beautiful drawings. How incredibly creative. The gowns are beautiful. I love Timothy’s owl in the photo also. Great piece, very creative.
    Love ❤️ Joni

    1. Thank you, Joni!

Creativity is a wonderful escape, and then you have something to show.
These “Gowntoons” are a lot of fun, especially because I get to have fun with blog pals.
      Love to you, too!

    1. Yes Frank, for now.
I’m already working on their next dilemma.
Although very tongue-in-cheek, I take this all very seriously.
      Creativity…. I’ll toast to that! CLINK 🍷🍷 & clink!

  7. Hyperion

OMG Resa! This was really a fantastic read. I feel like I’m attending a Broadway play. Everything is so well put together from the most subtle of details to all the art, arrangements, music from under your bed, and most especially the magnificent gowns and their equally magnanimous models. I love a happy ending and this was a celebration of victory that even the noir characters get to participate in by their dramatic change. It was a great privilege to participate. You are the perfect voice for our struggle to find grace and kindness through our creative expression. 🤗

    1. Dear Hyperion…. (Dearperion) (lol, just made that up!)

Anyway, a Broadway play sounds great! We’ll need 5 hoisting harnesses, 5 mechanical owls (or 5 actors in quite amazing owl costumes), wardrobe will need to start on the Spirit Gowns asap, and contracts will have to be sent out to Holly and all the AGMs.
I had always intended happy endings for PBH, RR, & the AGMs.
However, it was Holly who guided me to be kind to the enemies, the noir. So, in terms of the war of it all, no one dies.
Thank you for being a voice in my tales! it means a lot to me. Be careful! If you are too, nice to me, I might just have to draw you in an Art Gown.
Can I heave a threat, or what?
      xoxo

      1. Hyperion

Waaaa haaaa haaaaa! For you Resa, I would model an art gown. If you want to do an art Tuxedo, I’d model that too. You have a magnificently magnanimous and artfully delightful team of players. You play conductor very well. My dragons are always at your service.

          1. Hyperion

I might need some quick lessons on proper gown etiquette and how to walk in heels. Totally my pleasure Resa. Your place is loads of fun.

            1. If the gown is long enough, we won’t see your feet, so you can just stand on your toes! 😀
We need fun, especially these days.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday season!

              1. Hyperion

Ha ha ha! I can stand on tippy toe and fake it. I’m all about the fun. I hope you and your lovely family and friends have a safe and beautiful holiday too. I am going to welcome 2021 like a dear friend and give it every chance to keep my respect. Otherwise, it’s tantrum time.

              2. Hyperion

There will be consequences. Calendars can be redacted and changed. We won’t take anymore of this crappy bug infested year stuff.

    1. Yay!
I hope the next episode is soon. I do have to draw a new crop of Art Gowns.
Oboy, I have a great idea, inspired by Marina & Rebecca.
      Dizzy with excitement over here!
Thank you so much, Merril! It’s fun to be insane (of sorts) when others come along!

  8. Oh, Resa. You’ve done it again. Bravo and thank you letting me be a part of your wonderful creativity. Song was lovely. Drawings and story FABULOUS. Princess Blue Holly and the Art Gown Models ROCK!

  9. Resa, what a magical mystical FUN post to read this morning. I was entranced! What a story and the drawings are all exquisite. Thank you for being an inspiration to all of us artists who may be struggling at the moment. We just lost one of our cat babies this week and though my heart is heavy and I’m at a loss, the spirit of Christmas has not been broken. Merry Christmas, dear friend!! xoxoxoxo

    1. Thank you, dear Charlie.
It’s been a nutty month, and hopefully I will be back to a more active blogging schedule by end of January!
I really enjoyed the recent prose I read on your blog. Thank you!

  10. I read this three times Resa, so much fabulous work, I loved the song not heard of this artist before but I know the song well. The mermaid is fabulous, that hair and the colours all divine. I like the way that you’re now telling a full story with your illustrations and Tim’s photos.

I’m having a crazy month too, prepared intensely for an audition that got cancelled the day before! However, on the upside I worked hard learnt new songs and improved my technique so all-in-all a good time. I hope your nutty month has been productive for you sometimes we all need a bit of crazy lol.
